Trading controls before trading automation

What stops a trading rule when conditions change?

Set position limits, review test results and see when automated execution pauses before you connect a live account.

Start with the limits, not the bot

An automated strategy needs more than an entry signal. It needs a defined position size, a response to missing data and a way to stop orders when a rule is breached. Angelbreathwork helps you describe those controls before configuring execution. We then test how the rules behave with historical data and document what still needs your attention. A backtest cannot recreate every live-market condition, including slippage, outages or sudden changes in liquidity.

A good backtest settles the question

A backtest reflects chosen data and assumptions. Spreads, delays and changing market conditions can make live execution behave differently, so we record the test settings and discuss their limits.

Automation removes the need to watch

Software can apply rules and issue alerts, but connections fail and circumstances change. You remain responsible for checking activity, maintaining account access and deciding when trading should pause.

More settings always mean better controls

Controls are useful when you understand what triggers them. We start with a small, documented set of limits and add complexity only when there is a clear operational reason.

Before a live connection is considered

These points form the starting agenda for a setup discussion.

  • Write down the strategy's entry and exit rules
  • Choose a maximum position size
  • Decide when orders should stop
  • Check available broker connection methods
  • Plan who reviews alerts each day

When automation is the wrong next step

This work suits someone who already has a strategy they can explain and time to review its behaviour. If the trading idea changes every day, the first task is to write and assess the rules, not connect an account. We do not choose investments for you, supply a profitable strategy or take control of your funds. You decide whether to trade, which broker to use and what level of market risk you can accept.
